UPDATE — Dubai 2012: Anticipation

(This is the first post in a series detailing my work trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.)

The excitement is in the air.

I haven’t had a whole lot of time over the last week to be excited about this tip, but as I sit here in the Detroit Airport next to my buddy Tommy, I’m nothing shy of geeked. The nerves started to kick in a little bit last night as I was packing, but as soon as I met up with Tommy (from Lansing) we couldn’t help but talk about how excited and honored we are for this opportunity. This is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I’m going to live it up for sure.

I’m going to be with some awesome people in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and there really aren’t enough adjectives I explain what’s happening between my ears right now. Just know, I wish you all could experience this with me. Therefore, keep checking back for updates so you can live vicariously through me over the next three weeks!!!

My flight to Dulles is about to board, so I’ve gotta go for now.

Until next time …

[Update @ 5:46 p.m. EST]

Made it to Dulles International Airport just fine, however it wasn’t a smooth ride. The lady next to me told me she hates flying and she was freaking out during the 15-20 minutes we were experiencing turbulence.

When I touched down I got a text from Shawn, the VP of International Operations, confirming that my friends Heather and Megan would be on a different flight to Dubai because their flight from Chicago was canceled. Pretty bummed out for them. Would have liked to get to chat with them on the flight over, but that will obviously have to wait. Another trainer, John, is going to be on a different flight as well. What a mess this is turning out to be (for everyone else but me).

So that leaves Shane, Tommy and myself on the same flight to Dubai. The other three will arrive a few hours after us.

Well, looks like the plane is about to board. Next post will be from the magnificent Dubai, United Arab Emirates!!!

Until next time …
